Being & Building Followers & Friends of Jesus

A popular idea is that Jesus is a friend to everyone; but who does Jesus himself say his friends are?  If you take a minute to look up his words in John 15:14, you will find that he said: “You are my friends if you do what I command.”  If that is surprising to hear maybe we should get out our Bibles and see what Jesus and the New Testament writers actually said about this subject. After all, doesn’t salvation depend on our relationship with Jesus?

Jesus became the source of eternal salvation for who?  (Heb 5:9)

In Jesus’ “great commission” what did he want his disciples to teach people?  (Matt 28:19-20)

When Jesus is revealed, why will some be punished?  (2 Thes 1:7-8)

Let's see what Jesus’ closest friend, John (the disciple Jesus loved, John  21:20 & 24) said about friendship with Jesus:

How do we show we love Jesus?   (John 14:15, 21)

How do we demonstrate love for God?  (1 John 5:2-3)

What IS love?  (2 John 1:6)

What makes the Father and Jesus choose to come and live in someone?  (John 14:21-23)

How can we be sure we know God, and have Him living in us?  (1 John 2:3-6)

How do we remain in his love?  (John 15:10)
