What Makes Your Thanksgiving and Christmas Celebrations Special?

I'm a fan of Pinterest. It's interesting, and challenging, addictive, and often, even inspiring. Last night, a posting explained how a mom had led her three daughters in a new approach to Advent last year by creating 25 ideas for Random Acts of Christmas Kindness. Each was put into a brown paper lunchbag and the girls participated each day in one of the random acts of kindness . . . from taping a card and a quarter on a parking meter to surprising their teachers with a favorite beverage from…See More

30 Ways to Pray for People in Authority

Last week, I went to vote early. I expected no one to be there. I was amazed at the lines, the people, the wait . . . and the seriousness of the moment. I don't know when I've ever felt the tension throughout our country over an election as I have this time. A friend of mine posted on FaceBook that she was concerned that after all the political postings on-line, friends would have trouble remaining friends after the election. What can we as disciples do as our country prepares for Tuesday?…See More

Lesson from a Child

If you've read my blog in the past (which I know is extremely sporadic!), you know that I love stories. And I love the way that God uses these stories from friends and acquaintances to speak to me in a very personal way. I was with three friends at lunch this week, enjoying the food, the conversation, and the companionship. After lunch, one of my friends shared this story with me:Her family has been going through a lot recently. While the whole family has struggled, her grandsons seem to have…See More

Hi Margie,

I was a staff pastor (education and age groups) at a church in Huntsville, AL and primarily attended the extension center in Birmingham.  I took a number of classes with you in New Orleans and one in Atlanta (I think).  Graduated in 03 (MACE).  Left staff ministry several years ago following a divorce.  I am currently the director of discipleship at my home church in Wilsonville Alabama and to pay the bills, I'm utilizing my MBA and background the the consumer package goods industry working on print advertising projects for companies like S.C. Johnson, Colgate-Palmolive, Clorox, Pfizer, Hill's Science Diet, and others.  God has tremendously blessed me in that respect and I still get to be involved in disciple-making (my passion).  Great to hear from you and I appreciate the impact you had on me as well as what you are doing now.  BTW - I am considering working toward the D.Ed.Min through Midwestern in KC.

Hi Margie! If you remember me from NOBTS I'll certainly be impressed - but my feelings won't be wounded if you don't. I'm new here, but it looks like this is a great forum. Thanks!
