Equipping Your Reimagine Journey

CHANGED LIFE STORY

Tim, our Church Movements staff in Bowling Green, KY tells this story:

“I wanted to model evangelism with a young disciple of Jesus, so we went to a multi-housing unit and asked the first man we saw, "Can we pray for you?" Jonas* responded,

"Yeah! There's a lot of stuff I need prayer for!" Jonas was heading to McDonalds, so we accompanied him, and explained the gospel as we visited.

By the time we returned to the housing unit, Jonas understood the gospel and said, "I need to talk to God about all the bad stuff I've done in my life-- and I need to talk to Him about my dad's death last month." He stayed in his car for several minutes, and when he rejoined us Jonas was smiling. "I feel like such a weight has been lifted!" was his joyful response to the gospel.”

We're so grateful for your partnership!

CONNECTING PEOPLE TO JESUS
As our culture continues to change, old forms of evangelism can create an obstacle to the gospel. Wouldn’t it be great if we could connect people to Jesus through conversational evangelism that is wise, gracious, open and clear?

Tim wanted to model evangelism with a young disciple, so they went to a multi-family housing unit and asked the first man they saw, "Can we pray for you?" Jonas* responded, "Yeah! There's a lot of stuff I need prayer for!" Jonas was heading to McDonalds, so Tim & his disciple rode along, explaining the gospel through the Three Circles diagram-- Tim has the sticker on the back of his phone! By the time they all returned to the housing unit, Jonas understood the gospel and said, "I need to talk to God about all the bad stuff I've done in my life-- and I need to talk to Him about my dad's death last month." He stayed in his car for several minutes, and when he rejoined us Jonas was smiling. "I feel like such a weight has been lifted!" was his joyful response to the gospel.

Tim was able to model:
EXPLORING where someone is on their spiritual journey through asking good questions (Can I pray for you?)

BUILDING a way around obstacles that stand between someone and Jesus

GUIDING someone to Christ using a simple gospel presentation

What Tim experienced with Jonas is what we want every believer to experience:
Engaging in significant conversations in which they discover where others are in their spiritual journey and how God wants to use them.

PARTNERING TO SERVE THE CITY

Angela served at her church's carnival last week, which is just a way for the church to love the community with a free event for families. She volunteered in the hotdog stand, and was asked early on to walk around with hotdogs under the large tent with tables to pass them out. People who come to events like that are so OPEN and it’s so easy to initiate spiritual conversations since they’ve come to a church activity. She was able to talk to lots of people about what brought them there, whether they had a church home, their spiritual journeys, etc.

She sat down with a woman named Sarah* who has experienced significant trauma in her life. After listening to her story and talking for at least 30 minutes Angela asked, “Sarah, has anyone ever told you that you can have a personal relationship with Christ?” She said no and described how she felt like the trauma in her life separates her from God and that she feels deeply flawed. Angela wanted to share Romans 6:23 with her, but was struggling to find a pen and paper at the carnival. She finally used the back of a flyer but the only pen they could find did not work. Desperate to share the hope of the gospel before she had to leave, Angela literally tore the paper (see photo above) to show the bridge and talked her through the gospel. Sarah prayed to receive Christ that day!
